I have OCC or something. My wife says it's me being a perfectionist which I guess I am. I just like things to perform at their optimal efficiency and at their best performance level. I'm almost finished with my brother's arcade stick and then I can finish perfecting mine.

This shit is time consuming. There is so much work to do especially for what I want to do. It will be worth it though.Once I'm done with all the wiring for my arcade stick I shouldn't have to ever mess with it again.

In case anyone is wondering what I am doing to my arcade stick well here is a bit of a breakdown.

I have to solder wires to each of the button and movement contacts on each of the controller PCBs that I plan on using. So there will be one for my X360 and one for my regular XBOX. I also have to run wires from a chip I had to solder on some perf board to LEDs and the buttons. This is so that the buttons will light up when I press them. I also have to consolidate the cable to one cable or I will have to do some modding to the existing cable.

I was thinking about hacking the cable and reversing the position of the breakaway connector to be on the case so I can disconnect te cables when I'm not using the case or at least not have both connected when I'm not using one. Lot of work but once your using an arcade stick with a fighting game it makes it worth it. Especially if you're into fighting games like I am.

IDK if anybody looks in here but I'm almost done with my brother's arcade stick and then I can focus on perfecting mine. Here are some pics. I used a stain / varnish combo on the wood for the finish.

I still need to wet sand and apply a coat of polyurethane. Well anyway the stain/varnish stuff didn't stain the wood filler very well. Next time I'm going to use a regular stain and then a separate varnish or lacquer.

Here is a side shot showing a closeup of the finish.

I just need to put some artwork underneath the plexiglass and wire the buttons.

Thanks, it is a real PITA to do everything and it takes a while since you have to wait 24 hours between coats but the end result is worth it.

Here is another one. I started this one before the last one that I gave to my brother. I call this one my ugly stick.I started by staining the wood then decided to paint it then paint it a different color and then decided to strip all the paint sanded it then said fuck it I'll leave it like this and just put some clear coat on it. This is my personal arcade stick.

Actually the sanding and staining and painting you did goes well with the graphic

Yeah that's one of the reasons I decided to leave it like this. This stick works great. I thought about making some changes in the buttons and joystick for aesthetic purposes but I think I'll leave it like this for now.

This is a stick I made for a friend. It uses a Sanwa joystick and buttons. The joystick by itself costs $25 not including shipping the buttons will also set you back about $30 for 10 (not including shipping) or about $3 a button but they are the most sensitive and responsive buttons you can buy. he spent a total of $65 for the joystick and the buttons and another $25 for the XBOX controller. That's $90 for parts. Wood costs about $12 and plexiglass $6 so about $110 to build a stick like this if you can do all the work yourself. Oh yeah it cost $2.50 to have the artwork printed out and paint will also set you back about $5 so it's actually $117.50 not including labor!

If I was him I would have gone for the 6 button layout but with SFIV letting you assign all 3 kicks or punch buttons to one button it helps with the Ultra moves especially on fightpads I guess it makes sense. You'll have to excuse the pictures I took them with my phone.

If you have your own tools and use Happ parts and an old controller about $60 if you have to buy a controller and use Sanwa parts about $90

If you have to buy tools then it could be hundreds.
