December 2012, machine is up and running at 100%. Small black hole is created and our lil' universe is gone. Only thing left of us would be that greetings plaque we shot out there way back.

I doubt that thing can create a black hole big enough to destroy the universe. It would be pretty cool if they discover time travel with that thing. Maybe they can go to the future and discover a cure for Parkinsons and save Marty McFly's life.

I'm with Answer, just because you can't understand what they are trying to do doesn't make it a waste. A massive scientific discovery is a bit more important than some potholes, not to mention part of totally unrelated budgets.

I've been following the LHC for a few years now, I just hope they can get it up and running properly soon.

I too have been following this for a while and I lol'd when it broke after the first time it was used. I too agree with what we might learn. It might bring world peace or the end of the world. Let's hope for World Peace.
